Federal and State Trial and Appellate Litigation

The litigation section of our firm has varied experience in both criminal and civil trial practice in both state and federal courts. The litigation team includes members of all federal district courts in Florida, as well as the federal appellate bars including the United States Supreme Court. Each is qualified to practice before all Florida state courts, as well. Its members are fully qualified to handle litigation vertically from trial through appeal and discretionary proceedings.

The Firm has developed extensive experience defending law enforcement and correctional agencies concerning allegations of false arrest, malicious prosecution, police brutality, civil rights violations, and liability arising from high-speed pursuits. We have also represented members of the State University System on all manners of civil liability and, in recent years, we have expanded our scope to include professional liability claims against attorneys and realtors. The Firm also represents insurance companies and self-insured businesses in defense of civil claims.

The Litigation section of the Firm has also devoted a substantial portion of its practice to the area of personal injury, wrongful death, medical negligence, and white-collar criminal defense. We have experience in cases involving automobile accidents, insurance coverage disputes, nursing home negligence, products liability, slip and falls, and drug and alcohol offense.

The Appellate section of the Firm also has varied experience in the District Court of Appeal in Florida and before the Florida Supreme Court. Recently, the Firm represented clients before the Florida Supreme Court on a contentious constitutional amendment that would prohibit smoking in virtually every indoor workplace, including most bars and restaurants.
